Updated August 5, 2020
Like all of you, we are disappointed that ODRAM 2020 was canceled. We also know that many people are planning on riding this Saturday. Some may even ride the traditional ODRAM route. So we are inviting you to take part in the Virtual ODRAM 2020.
Here's what you do.
On August 8, ride your bike anywhere you'd like. Take a photo and post it to the Rider's Hub using the hashtag #ODRAM2020. (Bonus for wearing ODRAM gear.)
Within the next two weeks ride all or part of the traditional ODRAM route. Post a photo of yourself on the Rider's Hub with the hashtag #ODRAM2020
Everyone who posts a tagged photo will receive an ODRAM 2020 medal (while supplies last).
Continue to fundraise. Diabetes wasn't canceled. We'll post a list of all our fundraisers to the web site and main ODRAM page early next week.
Thank you for your understanding and support. Be safe on Saturday (or whenever you ride) and we'll see you in person on August 14, 2021.
Update July 9, 2020
ODRAM 2020 is Canceled!
After much deliberation, we have decided to cancel ODRAM 2020. The safety of our riders is our number one concern and recent trends indicate a higher health risk for our riders, their families and our volunteers. While we were working to create the procedures needed to comply with state guidelines, we also realized that most of the amazing things we do to make this a great ride would have to be eliminated. Finally, these procedures carried a significant financial cost which would result in fewer dollars going towards finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. We will greatly miss being a bright spot on the ride calendar and connecting with the motivated riders registered for this year’s event.
For those who have been raising funds for JDRF, we want you to know that this is a difficult year for the that organization. The JDRF Ride program typically raises $10 million a year for diabetes research and will fall very short of that mark this year. We hope you can continue to fundraise and help us make a greater contribution. We will award gear as outlined on the ODRAM website and will mail it to you prior to August 8th. Our plan is to turn over all the money raised so far to the Michigan chapter of JDRF. If you would rather have us do something different with the money you’ve raised please contact Chris@ODRAM.com.
For those that have registered for the 2020 ride you will be sent an email outlining instructions to exercise one of three options:
Defer your registration to 2021.
Make your registration fee a 100% donation to JDRF. (We will mail your 2020 ODRAM Medal if you send us a picture on your bike and post on social media with #ODRAM2020.)
Request a full or partial refund.
In regard to ride merchandise, the 2020 ODRAM design will now become the 2021 design. If you have purchased merchandise, we hope you begin sporting the new look and help promote the 2021 event. Ordered items will arrive prior to August 8th and can be mailed to you. If you no longer want your items you can request a refund.
Finally, we want to reiterate that this was a very tough decision. We really hoped we would be able to make ODRAM 2020 happen and we are genuinely sorry that we couldn’t make it so. Please be safe, ride safe, and we look forward to seeing you on August 14, 2021.
